Early life
I don’t know when I decided to become a vet.. but the memory is of Class 4. I think the incident that made me have such a firm resolution was when I lost my Judy to surgery. My love for all animals resulted in my own mini zoo at home..mice from my mom’s Laboratory ( How I wanted to bring them all ), the goat kid that walked into my house, my many puppies and kittens and rabbits, and even my pet house lizard ..who used to come when I used to tap the walls of my home for a drink of water.
I started my career with a Government job, but I decided to quit and start my own clinic due to multiple constraints that restricted my freedom. Dr. Ramana, my husband too being a vet, helped a lot during the transition period as an entrepreneur. Together, we made it possible for the animals to experience higher quality treatment standards. The veterinary industry had problems with basic things, even lacking essential equipment. This atmosphere triggered me to buy the necessary equipment like an X-ray machine, anesthesia machine, laboratory equipment, etc. These were required to provide better treatment to the animals, and I made it possible.

My role in animal welfare
I have played a vital role in the welfare of animals since the 1990s. I was significantly instrumental in starting the ABC program in Hyderabad in 1990. This program helped to stop the killing of stray dogs. I have also trained a lot of people in mitigating the suffering of animals. I am an RSPCA-trained animal welfare worker and the blue cross’s founder life member. Also, I’m the founder life member of people for animals and Ex– joint secretary too. I am a Part of CPCSEA, as I am one of the nominees. I also co-authored a chapter in the ABC SOP manual of AWBI.
